How to read these

## The average is the arithmetic mean of the entries below it.

The figure at the top of this page is not a claim; it is the mean of the
53 entries printed below, worked out to one decimal place. If an entry
were removed the figure would move, so nothing is removed. The ones that are less than
glowing are here too, because a bench that has never had a part arrive late or a second
visit go out is a bench nobody has ever used.

Each entry names one fault on one cabinet. That is deliberate: a warm fresh-food
compartment above a freezer still holding 0°F has a short list of
causes, and reading how somebody else's turned out is more use than a paragraph of praise.
Names are printed as a first name and a last initial.

No entry quotes a figure. What a call costs is on the
[pricing page](https://firstcoastsubzero.com/pricing/), where it can be checked against the invoice,
and what happens afterwards is on the [warranty page](https://firstcoastsubzero.com/warranty/). If
an entry below describes what your own cabinet is doing, the page for that
[repair](https://firstcoastsubzero.com/repairs/) sets out how it is diagnosed.

★★★★★

The wine cabinet had drifted four degrees warm and the upper bottles were noticeably off. He cleaned a condenser thick with dust from our renovation and rechecked it against a probe rather than the display.

Helena H.2026-08-04

★★★★★

The undercounter unit in our island was running non stop and never getting cold. The vent path at the front was choked with sand and dust. He cleaned it, then checked the ambient the cabinet has to sit in.

Jonah B.2026-07-30

★★★★★

Ice was coming out hollow and half formed. He measured the fill volume, found the inlet valve barely opening against our water pressure, and replaced it. The cubes have been full ever since.

Casper M.2026-07-25

★★★★★

Cabinet was cycling constantly and the floor in front of it felt warm. The condenser was matted with dog hair. He cleaned it, rechecked the fan draw, and told me plainly to expect it again in six months with two dogs.

Bennett H.2026-07-19

★★★★★

Cubes were fusing into a single lump within a day. He put it down to a slow leak past the valve seat rather than the machine itself, replaced the valve, and the bin has behaved since.

Antonia G.2026-07-14

★★★★★

The column read zero on the display and the contents were soft. He caught that the sensor was reporting the setpoint rather than real air temperature and replaced it. Proper diagnosis rather than guesswork.

Roland J.2026-07-11

★★★★★

The wine cabinet in our garage stopped cooling in August. He explained the ambient limit for that cabinet plainly, fixed the condenser fan that had actually failed, and did not pretend the location was fine.

Solomon E.2026-07-07

★★★★★

Both compartments crept up together after a storm outage. He checked the start components before condemning anything, found the condenser fan motor drawing badly, and replaced it rather than selling me a board.

Priya N.2026-07-02

★★★★★

A twenty-year-old built-in that everybody else wanted to replace. He read the plate, sourced the correct evaporator fan for that serial run, and the cabinet has held thirty-eight degrees ever since.

Adele F.2026-06-30

★★★★★

The undercounter drinks unit stopped cooling entirely. He checked the easy things first, then measured across the compressor and found an open winding. Told us straight that a replacement cabinet was the better call.

Nadine P.2026-06-25

★★★★★

Cubes were thin and slow. He checked the compartment temperature before touching the machine at all, found it running five degrees above the point where ice production stops being reliable, and fixed that instead.

Emmett N.2026-06-21

★★★★★

Fresh food side sat at fifty-two while the freezer below never wavered. He traced it to a stalled evaporator fan behind the rear panel, showed me the seized bearing, and had the compartment back down before he left.

Alicia P.2026-06-14

★★★★★

The column tripped its high temperature alarm twice in one week. Rather than change parts he logged the stored codes, found the excursions lined up with our afternoon outages, and checked the board for damage.

Yvette D.2026-06-06

★★★★★

Both drawers had stopped holding and the display was flashing. It was the evaporator fan under the base, blocked by a fallen bag of peas that had been down there long enough to freeze into the housing.

Duncan L.2026-06-02

★★★★☆

Salt air had eaten the fin stock at one corner of the condenser. He was straight with me that cleaning would not bring it back and quoted the coil work instead of pretending otherwise. Fair, if not what I hoped to hear.

Nathan V.2026-05-29

★★★★★

The machine had quit entirely after we lost power in a storm. He found the harness connector corroded at the back wall, cleaned and reseated it, and only then started talking about parts.

Rafael T.2026-05-23

★★★★★

The column was warm at the top and frozen solid at the bottom. He said airflow rather than refrigerant, and he was right. A fan motor and a cleared vent later it reads evenly from shelf to shelf.

Imogen B.2026-05-17

★★★★☆

A warm drawer, and I had assumed the worst. It turned out to be a compression problem at the gasket rather than anything refrigeration related, and he said so within ten minutes of opening it up.

Marisol O.2026-05-11

★★★★★

Freezer fine, refrigerator side climbing. He pulled the air baffle and found it stuck part open on a broken damper linkage. Replaced the assembly and stayed to watch the compartment pull down two degrees.

Kai T.2026-05-06

★★★★★

The glass door was fogging every humid afternoon and water was sitting on the bottom rack. He replaced a seal that had gone hard at one corner and adjusted the catch so the door pulls in properly.

Bruno N.2026-05-02

★★★★☆

The unit was icing at the back and pooling water at the front. The drain line had been crimped when the cabinet was pushed back into place. He rerouted it and packed the gap so it cannot happen again.

Quentin S.2026-04-28

★★★★★

Water was pooling under the crisper every few days. He pulled the lower back panel, found the drain tube plugged with a frozen slug, cleared it and refitted the drain heater clip that had come adrift.

Devon R.2026-04-22

★★★★★

The drawer unit was warm on the left and cold on the right. He found a runner had dropped so the seal lifted at one end, reset the alignment and replaced a gasket that had taken a permanent set.

Miles F.2026-04-16

★★★★☆

Condensation kept forming along the top of the door frame in July. He adjusted the closure and replaced a gasket that had gone stiff at the corner. It is much better, though on the worst days a little still forms.

Naomi C.2026-04-09

★★★★☆

The harvest cycle was jamming halfway and the arm sat stuck in the up position. He replaced the module and cleaned the mould. It works now, though he had to return with the part the following week.

Dante S.2026-04-01

★★★★★

The unit was vibrating hard enough to rattle the bottles against each other. He found the compressor mounts collapsed on one side, replaced them, and levelled the cabinet in its alcove while he was there.

Ingrid W.2026-03-31

★★★★★

The machine ran but dumped into a bin that never filled. The ejector was slipping on a stripped drive. He showed me the worn splines before he changed anything, which I appreciated more than he probably realised.

Colm E.2026-03-26

★★★★★

Interior lights stayed on with the door closed and the compartment warmed slowly all week. It was a failed door switch, not the board another shop had already quoted for. Half an hour and it was done.

Theo W.2026-03-18

★★★★☆

The unit outside kept tripping. He was honest that the cabinet is not rated for the ambient it lives in out there and told me exactly what would keep happening. Repaired anyway, and still going.

Elspeth R.2026-03-10

★★★★★

The column ran loud enough to hear from the next room. It was the evaporator fan blade clipping a build-up of frost, and behind that a door that had never sealed properly since the kitchen was refitted.

Simone O.2026-03-03

★★★★★

The freezer column stopped defrosting and packed its coil solid. He melted it down, replaced the defrost heater, and checked the drain path so the melt water would actually leave the cabinet this time.

Piers L.2026-02-24

★★★★★

The lower drawer would not close the last inch. He stripped the runner, found a bent slide from something being forced shut, and replaced the pair so that the unit tracks straight again.

Phoebe A.2026-02-18

★★★★☆

The wine storage would not hold its lower zone. He found the second evaporator fan had failed and the zone was living off whatever air drifted down. The part came on a return visit and both zones read true now.

Tamsin K.2026-02-13

★★★★★

Old house, tight alcove, and the cabinet had been running hot since spring. He measured the discharge line, cleaned a condenser packed with lint, then came back a week later to confirm it was cycling off properly.

Corinne S.2026-02-11

★★★★★

The ice tasted of the cabinet. He explained that the filter had been in far longer than it should have been and that the bin absorbs odour too, changed the filter, and told me to throw the first three batches away.

Beatrix H.2026-02-06

★★★★☆

Humidity inside the cabinet was too low and the corks were drying out. He found the reservoir path blocked and the door seal leaking at the top. Much better now, though it took a fortnight to get the seal in.

Camille G.2026-01-30

★★★★☆

He found frost building on the back wall of the upper section and traced it to a defrost termination thermostat opening late. The repair has held, though it took two visits because nobody stocks that part locally.

Marcy K.2026-01-27

★★★★★

Water was collecting under the undercounter and reaching the timber floor. He found the condensate pan cracked and the drain misrouted from a previous repair. Both were put right in the one visit.

Casey D.2026-01-21

★★★★☆

He found the door heater circuit open, which was why the frame was sweating and the seal kept freezing to it. The repair holds. The wall behind the cabinet needed touching up afterwards, which I did myself.

Malcolm R.2026-01-13

★★★☆☆

It works, and the diagnosis was sound. But the first man out could not get the panel free in our alcove and a second visit was needed with a different set of hands, which felt avoidable to me.

Georgia W.2026-01-05

★★★☆☆

The fault was found and the unit runs. It took three appointments to get there, and while the explanation each time was reasonable, I would rather have had one longer visit than three short ones.

Trevor M.2025-12-27

★★★★★

No ice at all for a fortnight. The fill tube was frozen shut, which he cleared, and then he traced why it kept happening back to a seal that was letting humid air into the compartment.

Lorna P.2025-12-16

★★★★★

The door alarm kept sounding at night with the door plainly shut. The magnetic seal had rolled at the hinge end and the cam was worn. New gasket, cam adjusted, and the alarm has not gone off since.

Lucia D.2025-12-03

★★★☆☆

The drawers seal properly now and the temperature is steady. I was less happy with the finish: a scuff along the panel edge that was not there before, and nobody said anything about it before leaving.

Verity C.2025-11-30

★★★★☆

Ice was sheeting across the floor of the column every couple of weeks. The drain tube was blocked at the trap. He cleared it and fitted the heat clip, but I had to ask twice to get the old part back.

Delphine A.2025-11-19

★★★★☆

Cabinet had been drifting for a month. It turned out the upper thermistor was reading eight degrees low, so the control never called for cooling long enough. The part came on a second trip, which I would rather have avoided.

Grant M.2025-11-08

★★★★☆

Water was overfilling and freezing the tray into one solid block. The inlet valve was weeping. He replaced it and fitted a new supply line as well, because the old one was kinked behind the cabinet.

Sylvia K.2025-10-27

★★★★☆

The upper compartment recovered after a cleaning but drifted again three weeks later. A second visit found a partial restriction in the sealed system. He explained what that meant for the cabinet before we decided anything.

Rosalind E.2025-10-14

★★★★☆

The interior light had been left on by a failed door switch and the cabinet was warming from it. Simple fix, and he pointed out that the light itself was why the top shelf had run warm all summer.

Wendell T.2025-10-06

★★★☆☆

The column works and the frost has not come back. Communication was the weak part: two rescheduled appointments before anybody arrived, and the second time I only found out because I called in myself.

Garrett Y.2025-09-29

★★★☆☆

The diagnosis was right and the cabinet holds setpoint now. My complaint is the wait: the part sat on order for over a fortnight and I had to chase twice before anybody told me where it had got to.

Harold B.2025-09-17

★★★★☆

The drawer unit was sweating inside. He traced it to a seal that had hardened and a drain that was not clearing. Both were sorted in one visit, though the replacement seal took a while to arrive.

Otto J.2025-09-08

★★★★★

The compressor was short cycling and the cabinet never got below the mid forties. He measured current draw, showed me what the start relay was reading, and swapped relay and overload together rather than one at a time.
