EC40 on an IC-27 with the compartment under ten degrees above setpoint Restricted bottom condenser. Clean it before anything else is considered EC40 with the compartment more than ten degrees above setpoint Component or sealed-system fault, assuming no door has been left standing open Ice sheet across the floor of a freezer column Frozen drain tube, then meltwater refreezing at the cabinet floor Door no longer pulling itself closed Hinge adjustment or panel weight after fifteen years of use Cabinet holding in winter and failing every August Marginal condenser capacity, restriction, or a slow loss on one sealed system Integrated is the name the fully flush platform carried before it became Designer. The plates read IT for the column and over-and-under cabinets, IC for the integrated column range including the IC-27, ID for drawer units and IW for wine. Every one of those plates is now a legacy plate, and every one of them is still in kitchens across St. Johns County and the Jacksonville Southside doing daily work. This is where most integrated-platform service revenue sits, and it is the reason this page exists. ## Bottom condenser, and what that costs Integrated cabinets breathe at the base. The condenser is behind the bottom grille, unlike the Classic and legacy Built-In platform, where it is at the top behind a flip-up grille. Homeowners who have owned both are often certain their integrated cabinet has no condenser at all, because there is no visible grille at eye level. Fifteen years of floor dust and pet hair through a low grille produces a genuinely restricted condenser. Clean it every six to twelve months, every six with pets. Two rules ride along: above 48°F in the fresh-food compartment against a 38°F setpoint, a cleaning will probably not recover it; and if the compartment has not returned to setpoint within 24 hours of a cleaning, book service. ## EC40 on the IC-27 The IC-27 is one of the cabinets that reports EC40, an excessive freezer compressor run time. The published split is the useful part. If the compartment is less than ten degrees above setpoint, treat it as a restricted condenser and clean it. If it is more than ten degrees above setpoint, and no door has been left standing open, the cabinet needs a technician. That threshold separates a maintenance job from a component or sealed-system failure, and it does so before anyone spends money. Leave the code displayed. Codes are logged evidence with timing attached, and on a cabinet with two sealed systems the log frequently identifies which circuit failed before anything is opened. ## Frozen drains Fifteen-year-old integrated freezer columns freeze their drains. The symptom is an ice sheet forming on the compartment floor, or water appearing at the base of the cabinet after a warm spell. The drain is frozen, not clogged, in the overwhelming majority of cases. Nothing rigid goes down that tube. No boiling water goes into it. The drain heater and the evaporator pan sit on the other side and a puncture converts a modest repair into a sealed-system job. The correct procedure is a controlled defrost with the door held open, then a diagnosis of the drain heater circuit, because a drain that freezes once will freeze again. ## Doors, panels and time Integrated doors carry full-overlay panels that a cabinetmaker fitted, and after fifteen years those panels have been through at least one refinishing and sometimes a hardware change. Doors that no longer close themselves are usually an adjustment issue, sometimes a hinge, and rarely anything electrical. None of these doors has a lock. The airtight seal makes a door feel locked for a few seconds after closing while the trapped air contracts, and it releases on its own. Forcing it tears gaskets. ## Age, boards and coverage Around sixty-eight thunderstorm days a year in this metro put transients on residential branch circuits, and control boards on cabinets of this vintage have absorbed a lot of them. We do not publish board part numbers as definitive: fit is serial-dependent and the wrong board is expensive. We read the plate on site. Manufacturer terms on these cabinets were two years full parts and labor, five years full sealed system and twelve years limited sealed system, parts only. An Integrated cabinet installed in 2015 or later may still be inside that twelve-year limited window. In years six through twelve the covered sealed-system part is supplied parts-only, obtained from the manufacturer directly, and an independent shop may fit it with the homeowner paying labor. On this platform that is often what makes a compressor repair rational instead of a cabinet replacement that also means new panels and new cabinetry work.
